Jack Thurlow "Papa Jack" Allen, age 69, of Lyons, passed away at 7:11 P.M. Wed., Jan. 20, 2010, at his son's residence in Linton. He was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Lyons, the son of Thurlow & Hazel Allen.
He retired from General Electric in Linton. Jack was known as "Papa Jack" to many & was always a big part of his kids & grandkids lives. He was a 1958 graduate of Lyons High School & was a member of the Moose & Sons of American Legion, both of Linton.
Survivors include a daughter, Laura Dawn (Brent) Barlow of Mitchell, two sons, Shad Hale (Heidi) Allen of Linton & Kevin Dale (Toni) Allen of Linton, a brother, William "Bill" Allen of Lyons, & seven grandchildren, B.A. & Marcus Barlow & Tyler, Calvin, Austin, Brayden, & Shelby Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jackie Thurlow Allen, Jr., May 5, 1973, & a brother, Junior Allen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Sat., Jan. 23, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Allen Burris officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
