Albert R. Allamong, 86, of Frederick County, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Allamong was born April 17, 1919, in Hayfield, the son of Edward C. and Martha Frye Allamong. He retired in 1981 as a guard at Doubleday Co. and mowed the cemeteries of Saint John's Church, Saint Paul's Church, and Second Opequon Church.
He was a private in the Army and served in World War II.
Surviving with his wife, are two daughters, Mary and Martha Allamong; a son; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Harvey Allamong, Carson Allamong, Calvin Allamong, Robert Allamong, and Howard Allamong; and two half sisters, Mabel Perry and Ida Ware, are deceased.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Saint John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Winchester, with David Owings officiating.
Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, is handling arrangements.
