Elizabeth M. Alderman, 79, formerly of Annette Place, Middletown, Conn., wife of Francis Holkup, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at the Middlesex Health Care Center, Middletown.
She was born in North Adams, daughter of Leon and Frances (Mulqueen) Alderman. She graduated from Drury High School, North Adams, with the Class of 1942.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the state of Connecticut.
She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a parishioner of St. Pius X Church, Middletown.
She leaves a daughter, Kathleen Kendrek and her husband Walter Kendrek of Middletown; a sister, Virginia Mumford of Lanesboro; an uncle, Francis Alderman of North Adams; two grandchildren, Kimberly O'Brien of Colchester, Conn. and Stephen O'Brien of East Haddam, Conn.; two cousins, Rita Ouellette of Burlington, Vt. and Dorothy Levin of Cape Coral, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and friends Dr. and Mrs. Bernard Augé of Pittsfield.
She was predeceased by her sister, Leone Roach.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in St. Pius X Church, Middletown. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, on Thursday, 2 p.m. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, July 23, 5-7 p.m. Donations may be sent to the St. Vincent De Paul Place Soup Kitchen, 615 Main St., Middletown, Conn. 06457.
