Mrs. Bonnie Watkins Albury, 86, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 19, 2007. Born in Key West on Feb. 3, 1921, she graduated from Key West High School and later received her degree in music from Florida Keys Community College. She also attended Tulane University in New Orleans for a semester.
In earlier years, she was employed as secretary to Mr. Dan Navarro of Navarro Auto Sales, and as secretary to Mr. Bascom Grooms of City Electric Company. At times, she served as a substitute teacher at the Convent of Mary Immaculate and at the San Carlos Institute.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathleen Jaycocks Watkins; her father, Thomas Curtis Watkins; and her sister, Kathleen Watkins.

She is survived by her son, Richard C. Albury (Lu) of Carrollton, Texas; her granddaughters, Rene and Rhonda, also of Texas; her sister, Jessie Watkins; and her beloved adopted brother, Oliverio (Chippy) Fernandez.
As she wished, she will be cremated and there will be no services.

Castillo and Thurston's Key West Mortuary and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
