The following obituary appeared in the "Junction City Republic" on February 26, 1904, on page three. It is presented verbatim from the newspaper, although there are obvious errors.

Miss Ann Lamont was born in Pittsburg, Pa., February 12, 1832. She was married to John Laughlin in 1847. Two children were born to this union. The deceased was married in 1858 to Wm. Akeright and five children were born of this union, all of whom survive their mother. When Mother Akeright was converted she joined the Methodist church, but afterwards changing her denominational views she joined the Baptist church in 1883, to which church she remained loyal until her death. From Pennsylvania she moved with her husband to Illinois in 1885. In 1881 she moved to Ellis, Kansas, where she lived until 1900 until she moved with her family to Junction City. She joined the Junction City Baptist church February 24, 1900. Mother Akeright died February 24, 1900. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”
