Gladys Inez Campbell, 89, of Chester, was born Dec. 31, 1916, north of Orion in Major County to Camden Lee and Nancy Mae Whitacre Ake and died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Seiling Hospital.

She was raised in Major County where she attended several schools.

She married W.F. "Garney" Campbell Oct. 21, 1933, in Enid. They farmed and ranched southeast of Chester on land claimed by Garney's father in the land run. He died July 14, 1982.

She was a homemaker and helped with the cow/calf operation. She was a member of Midway Assembly of God Church where she was active in the Women's Ministries and helped with the Memorial Day Fundraiser of making flower wreaths.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Lee Campbell of Longdale, James Edward Campbell of Fairview, and Harold Monroe Campbell of Bartlesville; one daughter, Betty Ann Ward of Woodward; four brothers, Albert Ake of Enid, Glen Ake of Waukomis, Lennen Gunsaulis of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Roy Ake of Ringwood; two sisters, Patsy Glass of Edmond and Emma Derrick of Woodward; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her husband, "Garney," she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral Service: Thursday at Elm Grove Church, Chester. The Rev. Tommy Pitts will officiate. Burial is in Orion Cemetery. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Midway Church Building Fund.
