Mrs. Akard Rites Set In City Today

Services were to be at 2 p.m. today in Franklin-Bartley Chapel for Mrs. Hugh Akard, 50, of 3106 1st Place, who died about 8 a.m. Wednesday at Methodist Hospital.

The Rev. Donald Hancock, minister of Parkview Baptist Church in Plainview, was to officiate. Burial was to be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Akard had been a Lubbock resident for 47 years and a member of Carlisle Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Thacker of Mangum, Okla., Mrs. Marjorie Fay Hix of Idalou, and Dee Akard and Mrs. Charlotte Gudel, both of the home; her mother, Mrs. Dollie Frazier of 1320-B Grinnell St.; her father, Shelby Frazier of Lubbock; three brothers, I. D. and Gene Frazier, both of Lubbock, and Leo Frazier of Rt. 2, Lubbock; two sisters, Mrs. Oletha Gordon of 1809 18th St. and Mrs. Addie Folsom of Breckenridge; and 10 grandchildren.
