Columbus W. Adkins, 81, died at his home in Dowelltown, DeKalb county, Wednesday of last week, following a lingering illness.


He was the father of Rev. H.C. Adkins, Baptist mission worker and minister of McMinnville.


Funeral services were held at Dowelltown Thursday and burial was in the Whorton Springs cemetery.


Mr. Adkins was a lifelong resident of DeKalb county and had lived in Whorton Springs community area for about 30 years.


He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Williams Adkins; two sons, Rev. H. C. Adkins and E. F. Adkins, Smithville; a half brother and four sisters.
