V.A. was born June 5, 1918, in Texas City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the Third Army in the European Theater of Operations. He was retired from Santa Fe Railroad.
V.A. was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ella; brothers, Tom, Charles, Edgar, Harry, Jimmy, and Edwin; and sisters, Lois, Ellen, Laura, Jane and Blanche.
Survivors: Wife of 67 years, Margie Abbott; sons, Alex Abbott and Billy Abbott and his wife, Debbie; granddaughter, Heather Abbott; sisters, Elizabeth Collier and Lillian Allison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
