Roger William Aldinger, 77, died April 10, 2002, at the Keokuk County Medical Clinic in Sigourney.

He was born April 27, 1924, in What Cheer, the son of Lloyd D. and Lulu Agusta (Brandenburg) Aldinger. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1941.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He was wounded while in Germany, and received the Purple Heart.

He married Elizabeth Lucile Wallerich April 2, 1950 at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Sigourney. He farmed northwest of Sigourney.

He worked for John Deere for many years and later owned his own machine shop. They moved to Sigourney in 1990 and he has resided at the Sigourney Care Center since 1998.

He was a member of the Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post 2308, Leo Farmer American Legion Post 19, both of Sigourney and he attended the Sigourney Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife; a grandson; and a brother, Russell of Sigourney.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kirby; and his parents.

Funeral services were held Sat., April 13, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kate Stangl officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Military honors were given by Lacey Kerr V.F.W. Post 2308 and Leo R. Farmer American Legion Post 19.

Arrangements were made by Holm Funeral Home of Sigourney.
