Leah Anderson was born November 24, 1919, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Alex and Anna Bratzman Miller. She grew up in the LuVerne and Sexton area. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in LuVerne, Iowa. She graduated from the LuVerne High School in 1937.
On August 18, 1937, Leah was united in marriage to Orville Anderson in Eagle Grove, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the LuVerne area until 1955, when they then moved to the Corwith area. They farmed in the Corwith area until retiring and moving to Algona in 1986. Leah and Orville enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona which they had done for twenty years.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an avid sports fan, enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Leah was a 50+ year member of the United Methodist Church.
Leah was a past member of the Methodist Church in LuVerne and Corwith, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She was a current member of the First United Methodist Church in Algona.
Leah died on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Communities in Algona at the age of 84.
She is survived by her husband Orville, of nearly 67 years of marriage; son, Larry and Karen Anderson of Alexandria, MN; daughter-in-law, Pat Anderson of Emmetsburg, IA; son, Mike and Denise Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Eric and Janet Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; Michael Anderson and Pam Rogers of Washington, DC; Pam Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; Tammy and Jeff Naig of Emmetsburg, IA; Marni Leah Anderson of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Vance Theron Anderson and Dean Carl Anderson; Paige, Alexa and Bailey Naig. Also surviving are a brother, Robert and Doris Miller of Rochester, MN, and a sister, Helen and Daryl Burtis of Mason City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert; grandson, Theron; brothers, John and Henry; sisters, Katie, Pauline, Mary, Freda and June.
