Robert E."Gene" Acord, 80 of Fairmount, Ind died on Tue., October 21, 2014, in Marion, Indiana.

Born Friday, Nov 17, 1933 in Charter Oak, Missouri, was the son of the late Dayton Acord and late Frieda Baker Acord. He attended school in Charter Oak, Missouri and served in the Army from 1956-1958. Gene and Bonnie Stinnett were married on Dec 17, 1955. Bonnie survives in Fairmount.Retired from GM in 1971 and became a truck driver for East Texas Motor Freight of St. Louis and other national carriers retiring in 1999. Was a member of the Light House Assembly of God, the Deer Creek Conservation Club and a former member of the VFW. Enjoyed hunting squirrel, rabbit, deer and quail.

Surviving are sons,

Robert "Rob" (Elaine) Acord and Michael Wayne Acord daughter, Sherri Herring

5 grandchildren; Robert "Rob" (Elaine) Acord,

Ryan Acord, Deidre Herring, Stephanie Herring Savannah Acord

3 great grand children, Addison Acord, Aubrey Acord, and Adrianne Gossett

Several nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters.

A Funeral service will be at 1 Light House Assembly of God located at 5909 S. Jay Street, Marion, Indiana with the Rev. Jerry Gallaway officiating. Interment Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
