Raymond Bruce Barnes, 17, who was killed Saturday, July 16, in a tragic mountain climbing accident near Lower Enchantment Lake. The Rev. Jeff Copeland officiated at the afternoon service and Mrs. Alfred Fuller played soft organ music. Interment followed at the Peshastin cemetery with the following friends serving as casket bearers: Jack Johnson, Bob McKellar, John Ray-field, Scott Warman, Nick McDevitt, Richard Martin, Dennis Rayfield and Wendell Whaley. Raymond Bruce Barnes was born February 13, 1949, at Sevierville, Tenn., and came to Peshastin in 1956. He would have been a junior at Peshastin-Dryden High school this fall. Ray was on the football team and was a member of the Dryden Missionary Baptist church. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Barnes; two sisters, Mary Ruth and Selma Baines; one brother, Pvt Riley Barnes, U.S. Army, Fort Ord, CaL; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Smelcer and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barnes, all of Tennessee.
