Services for ROSCOE E. ALEXANDER, 84, of Paducah will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Lone Oak First Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Revs. Willis Henson, Stan Reid and Mike Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, where military rites will be given. Mr. Alexander died at 10:02 p.m. on Saturday at Western Baptist Hospital.
A native of Graves County, he was a retired switchman at Illinois Central Railroad, having worked for 44 years. He was a member of United Transportation Union and the Lone Oak Lions Club. He was a former deacon at Lone Oak First Baptist Church and a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Bondella Puckett Alexander; five sons, Joe Thomas Alexander of Reidland, James Alfred Alexander and Danny Lynn Alexander, both of Paducah, Roger Dale Alexander of Bethlehem, New Hampshire, and Dusty Ray Alexander of Benton; five sisters, Etna Bloomington, Dessie Samsil, Elizabeth Wurth and Dorothy Herndon, all of Paducah, and Essie Wyatt of Boaz; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. His parents were Alfred Greely Alexander and Laura Belle Warner Alexander. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
