MARGARET BLAND GARDNER
FLORENCE, May 8 – (Special) - Mrs. Margaret Bland Gardner, 71, widow of Wiley Sanders Gardner, died Thursday after as illness of two years. Mrs. Gardner for more than 20 years made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Curtis C. Cox, 116 South Harlllee Street, here.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock Friday afternoon from Walters Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. James E. Cousar Jr., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church and the Rev. P.H. Bussey, pastor of the Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery near Evergreen.

Mrs. Gardner was born at Evergreen, October 30, 1875, the daughter of the late A.L. Armfield and Ann Hutchinson Armfield. Before moving to Florence to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Gardner had lived in the Evergreen Community of Florence County. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is a son, CLyde A. Gardner of Charleston; a daughter, Mrs. Curtis C. Cox of Florence; two step-daughters, Mrs. Alma G. Matthews of New York City and Mrs. Ara Pate of Florence; a step-son Fred. W. Gardner of Evergreen; three sisters, Mrs. H.H. Purvis of Evergreen, Mrs. Lela Hunter of Key West, Fla. and Mrs. Bertha Morris of Homerville, Ga. and 29 grandchildren.
