She was born May 4, 1916 in Johnstown, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Billa Muska.
A graduate of Johnstown High School, she was employed by the former Borman's Coat factory in Johnstown and the Grandoe Corp. of Gloversville.
Mrs. Bakyta was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Johnstown, and the Slovak Union Sokol.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia M. Capano of Gloversville; three grandchildren, Stephanie Seltzer, David Bakyta and Lori Reid; five great grandchildren, Caroline Bakyta, Amanda Bakyta, Taylor Reid, Alexander Reid and Abigail Seltzer; and several neces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Emil Bakyta in 1979, her son Robert M. Bakyta, and siblings Michael Muska, Thomas Muska and Sophie Malik.
Interment will take place at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown.
