Son of Mr and Mrs James E "Pat" Addision. Graduate of Blair High School. Served in the United States Army for eight years and was dispatched overseas in January 1944, with Company A, 704th Tank Division and was killed in action near Cerise, France. Participated in the Normandy and Northern France battles.

Survived by his parents; a brother, Pvt. James Addision (in the Aleutians;, and three sisters, Ann Horton of Wichita Falls, Margaret Louise Fitzgerald of Merkel, and Mrs. Glenn Abbott of Amarillo.

Rites Set for Merkel Soldier
MERKEL, May 5 (RNS) -- A memorial service, followed by military burial, will be held from the Methodist church here at 3 pm Friday for 1st Lt Hugh E. Addison, who was killed in action Aug 1, 1944, near Cerise, France, while on duty with Company A, 704th Tank Destroyers.
The Rev R L. Butler, the pastor, will speak, an Merkel Post 5683, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will have charge of the rites at Rose Hill cemetery.
The body, which was brought home for re-burial from Europe aboard the US Army Transport John L McCarley, landed at New York City, Apr. 2, will arrive here on the westbound Sunshine Special at 8:09 pm Thursay an will be taken to the Barrow-Sheppard Funeral home.
Lieutenant Addison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Addison, was born at Blair Feb. 22, 1915. Joining the Army on Jan 7, 1937, he served with a cavalry division at Fort Bliss when he first went into service. On Jan. 21, 1943, he was commissioned at Camp Hood and he went overseas with the tank destroyers division in February 1944.
His parents received a Purple Heart awarded posthumously to their son.
Besides his parents, other survivors are: one brother, James A. Addison of Merkel, and three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Abbott, of Merkel, Mrs J. C Horton, of Wichita Falls an Mrs. H. E. Fitzgerald, who with daughter, Sandra, are overseas with Captain Fitzgerald, stationed at Hofheim, Germany.
