Mrs. Baylis was employed with Big Yank Manufacturing as a trainer/supervisor for 20 years. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Mrs. Baylis was a member of the Pine Belt Quilters and a recipient of several quilting awards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Jack Baylis and her parents, Luther and Telcie Carter.
She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Sledge (Allen) of Petal; three sisters, Marilou Stephens of Petal, Willie Mae Taylor of Conyers, GA, and Lucy Davis of Purvis; one brother, Charles Carter of Petal; three grandchildren, Dusty Sledge, Carlton Sledge, and Tara Nobles all of Petal and seven great-grandchildren.
