Ellen Marie Alexander, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at the Heartland of Hillsboro.

She was born in Adams County on June 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Joseph Harley and Mary (Teegarden) Hauldren.

Ellen was a member of the Hillsboro First Baptist Church and Hillsboro Chapter #441 O.E.S. She attended Holbrook College in Manchester and Wilmington College, taught two years at Blue Creek, one year at Lynchburg and substituted for several years in Highland County schools. The accompanying photo was Ellen's pinup girl photo for her brother's bomber squadron during WWII.

Ellen is survived by her four sons, brother of Columbus, Ga.; a sister of Milford; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, William Arthur Alexander, on Jan. 5, 1990; two sons, Boris J. and Mark L. Alexander; one grandson, Joel Alexander; two sisters, Clemence Susan Behymer and Donna Jean Hamilton; and one brother, Shriver Hauldren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery with Rev. Larry Stewart officiating.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
