Funeral services were held for Mrs. Katie Ella Bell, 71, Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. (CDT) from the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Bro. Walter Lay, pastor of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, in charge assisted by Brother Abraham Berry. Mrs Bell died at her home near Mac, in the Mt. Carmel Community, Thursday, August 15 at 1:40 p.m. CDT, from a stroke suffered last Wednesday evening. She had first suffered a stroke in 1950. Mrs. Bell was born August 10th, 1886 in Taylor County, the daughter of Lewis Jasper Underwood and Mary Elizabeth Warren, both deceased. She united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Bell, living, in May 1910. Survivors are her husband and three children, Roy W. Bell of Mac, Kentucky; Virgil L. Bell also of Mac, and Harry E. Bell of Cincinnati, Ohio. One brother, Robert E. Underwood of Route # 1, Columbia Ky, in Adair County, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Frank Beams, Jesse Hash, Inman Sprowles, Oscar Sprowles Fred Hedgespeth, Olin Wilson, Frank Underwood, Raymond Noe
