Excerpt from "Revolutionary War Veterans of Greene County Ohio", published by Greene County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society, 1995, pg.138:

BACKGROUND: Born 17 Mar 1752 in Lancaster Co., PA. Moved to Rockingham Co., VA when he was 3 years old living there until 1816.

SERVICE: Volunteered March, 1778 for Virginia Militia under Captain Robert Cravens, serving 6 months, as ensign guarding Indians. Volunteered again and built Fort McIntosh on the Ohio River, then helped build Fort Lawrence on the Tuscawaras River, was discharged around Christmas 1778 and returned to Virginia. In June, 1781, he entered as a private under Captain Rush as a mounted volunteer, scouting for 20 days.

WIFE: married Anna "Catherine" Tresslar (d. 1861) [m. 04 Sep 1810 in Botetourt Co., VA, dau. of Henry Tresslar]

DEATH: Died 14 Apr 1837, buried Boots Cemetery, near Xenia.

Cemetery now defunct - description from Greene Co. records: Stones apparently been moved/piled around a tree which was later cut and stones left on ground or buried. Outline of the cemetery plainly visible.
