The Civil War illness of Isaac Auld:

In March and April, 1865, Isaac was hospitalized with Measles, dysentery and scurvy in Tullahoma, TN. He had enlisted for a year but his company was dissolved in 7 months. Their job was to guard block houses on the Nashville and Chattanooga RR. During the 7 months of duty 71 men were lost to disease. Isaac himself was never able bodied after his return.

He worked with his hands, ran some stationary steam engines & chopped wood with an axe to feed his family. He lived in Atwood, Tuscola & Aurora, and finally in the Old Soldier's home in Danville. He died there in 1927. Son Frank took care of the funeral arrangements as his next of kin.
