Verna E. Baurer, 98, of Peoria, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria. Verna was born on July 24, 1918, in Cissna Park, Ill., to Albert and Carrie (Knapp) Hari. She married Benjamin R. Baurer on October 6, 1940; he preceded her in death on April 6, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Jeffrey Baurer; 3 brothers; and a sister. Verna is survived by 2 sons, Ronald and Dennis Baurer, both of Peoria; 1 daughter, Patricia (Bill) Blank of Carlsbad, Calif.; and 2 sisters, Cora Leman of Peoria, and Dee Unmack of San Antonio, Texas. Verna was the co-founder of Baurer Furniture, Inc., of Washington, Ill., and retired in 1980.
Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Edwards, Ill.
