Maj. Daniel Allen, was one of the earliest settlers in Pompey. Born in Pennsylvania in 1766, he went in early manhood to Canaan, Columbia county, N. Y., and entered the employ of Gideon Burr, whose daughter, Abi Burr, he married in 1790. (The wife of Gideon Burr was Hannah Edwards, sister of Jonathan Edwards.)
