Barb was born May 28, 1940 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Randall H. Biggs and Gertrude Mae “Gertie” Lane Biggs. On June 28, 1958 she married Myron G. Applegate in Casey, IL. He passed away on March 26, 2005.
Barbara was the first administrator for Mill Creek Park and worked for the park for over 25 years. She was also co-owner of Applegate T.V. & Appliance in Casey, alongside her husband, Myron. In her younger years, Barb worked at the Casey Manufacturing Co. She attended the Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Barb was a longtime member of the Casey Moose Lodge, Casey VFW Ladies Auxillary, and the Greenup American Legion.
Survivors include: daughter, Terri Flynn; son, Rick Applegate; granddaughter, Ravae Applegate and husband Jason King; great-grandchildren, Justice King and Rowan King; sister, C. Sue Feltner; and, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sons, Randy Applegate and Rodney Applegate; infant sister, Sheryl Biggs; and brother, Randall James Biggs.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Ron Juenger officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday morning at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
