He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Berkner. He lived in Hamilton County for 34 years and married Dortha MEYERSCOUGH. They had nine children, seven survive Carly J. of Beverly Missouri; John of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Anna Barbara Roland of Scots Bluff, Nevada; George R.; Christina Dagenhardt of Dahlgren; Leonard M. and Louie. George married second Minnie Gronnet; two children both died. Interred in the Belle City Cemetery. While his death was a great shock to his family and friends it is not altogether unexpected as he had gradually grown worse and weaker during the last few days of his life. George Birker was born in St. Clair County, Illinois September 27, 1851. He is survived by his widow and seven children, John and George of St. Louis, Charles of Beverly Missouri, Leonard of Crouch Township, Mrs. Anna B. Roland of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, Mrs. Phillip Dagenhart and Louis of Dahlgren. Funeral services were conducted at his residence Tuesday December 29, at 2 p.m. by Rev. John Maulding. Internment in the Crouch Cemetery.
