Funeral services for Ruth R. Anderson, 91, of Elk City, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Burlington United Methodist Church, 195 Center St., Burlington, with the Rev. Brian William officiating. Born Sept. 2, 1911, in Sycamore, the daughter of Frank and Helene (Schultz) Russell, she passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in Elk City. Burial will be in the Burlington Township Union Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson graduated from the Northern Illinois Teacher's College and her teaching career spanned 38 years. She taught elementary school primarily at the former Schairer School and the Burlington Elementary School. Ruth moved to Oklahoma in 1990. She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Rosemary) Anderson of Elk City, David (Connie) Anderson of Pensacola, Fla., seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Anderson in 1979; sister, Gladys Anderson; and brothers, Robert and Ralph Russell. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and from 10 a.m Monday until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Burlington United Methodist Church Building Fund.
