In fact, he wrote his name as “Lawrence Carl Helberg” on his 12 Sep 1918 Draft Registration card. He said he worked at the time as a farmer on his father’s farm. He was described on the card as being of medium height and build and having brown eyes and brown hair. He moved to northern Minnesota and lived with his sister Anna and her husband Gust after 1945. He helped Gust grow fruit trees and a garden. He moved in with his sister Ellen after her husband Rudolph died in 1982. Lawrence died on 26 Aug 1990 at the age of 92 in Morris, Stevens County. He was buried at Aeneas Cemetery in Stevens County.
