Beda Marie Nystrom, daughter of Lars Fredrik Nystrom and Maria Andersdotter. Beda was a maidservant in Brandsbol, Sweden. She emigrated with her parents on February 18, 1892, and entered the United States through Ellis Island on March 24, 1892. They carried six pieces of luggage with them from Sweden.

On June 11, 1895 she married John Helberg and lived in Swan Lake Township, Stevens County. They farmed for many years with John's brothers Olaf and Nels; struggling with grasshoppers and bad weather. Their children were: Herman Helberg (1896-1896), Lawrence Carl Helberg (1898-1990), Ellen Bye (1901-1995), Hilma Helberg(1903-1907), Albert Helberg (1904-1986), Lillie Lofquist (1906-1996), Anna Boop Gustafson (1907-1962), and 2 infants.

In the later part of 1920, John and Beda moved to Kensington and lived with their son Olaf, whose wife had died a few years earlier. Later they bought the house across the street from the Covenant Church in Kensington. In the 1930 census, they were still living in Kensington, along with their daughter Anna and her two daughters. After the Depression struck, they moved back to the farm to help their sons Lawrence and Albert.

Beda suffered from heart problems for many years and passed away in 1933 at the age of 61. John died from stomach cancer in 1946. They are both buried at Aeneas Cemetery, Stevens County.
