MORGANTON - Geneva Dellinger Kanipe, 81, of Whispering Pine Street, died June 12, 2001, at Grace Hospital after a period of declining health. Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Emma Moses Dellinger. A member of Southside Baptist Church, she retired from the former Skyland Textile Corp. in Morganton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Kanipe; four brothers, Charles Dellinger, Jack Dellinger, Pete Dellinger and Joe Dellinger; a sister, Mary Francis Heavner; and a grandson, Bobby Valentine. Survivors include a son, James Kanipe of Morganton; a daughter, Jean Valentine of Georgetown, S.C.; a sister, Serena Walker of Flint, Mich.; four grandchildren, Michael Kanipe, Donna Vance, Kelli Armentrout and Genelle Williams; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Virgil Morrow at 2 p.m. Friday at her church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park. The family will be at Sossoman Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 tonight and at the residence, 139 Whispering Pine St., at other times. Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, P.O.
