MORGANTON - Geneva Dellinger Kanipe, 81, of Whispering Pine Street, died June 12, 2001, at Grace Hospital after a period of declining health. Born Jan. 14, 1920, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Emma Moses Dellinger. A member of Southside Baptist Church, she retired from the former Skyland Textile Corp. in Morganton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Kanipe; four brothers, Charles Dellinger, Jack Dellinger, Pete Dellinger and Joe Dellinger; a sister, Mary Francis Heavner; and a grandson, Bobby Valentine. Survivors include a son, James Kanipe of Morganton; a daughter, Jean Valentine of Georgetown, S.C.; a sister, Serena Walker of Flint, Mich.; four grandchildren, Michael Kanipe, Donna Vance, Kelli Armentrout and Genelle Williams; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Virgil Morrow at 2 p.m. Friday at her church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park.
