ROGERSVILLE - Anna Ruth Alvis, 86, went to be with the Lord on September 20, 2012 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Ruth was saved as a young girl at New Life Baptist Church in Poor Valley. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Choptack Baptist Church. In her younger years she volunteered at the hospital as a Pink Lady. She loved and played with all the neighborhood children and was also known in her community as a meticulous housekeeper, gardener, stone mason and cook.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Alvis; parents, Gaines & Bertha Lawson; sister, Lucille Henard; brothers, Willard and Ethridge Lawson.

Those who will mourn her passing are daughter, Jan Davis and husband James; special sister-in-law, Edna Lawson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 22, 5:00 – 8:00 P. M. at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at Choptack Baptist Church on September 23 at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Rev. Billy Singleton and Dr. Larry Parrott will be officiating.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Amedysis staff and Christine and her "Kissy Huggy" caregivers, Julie Russell, Kathy Lawson, Becky Jeffers, Emily Singleton, Melody Russell and Virginia Cole and yard caretaker, Ronnie Wilder.
