Upon ordination, Father Reiser served for ten years at his native St. Michael's Church in Erie, and then ten years at St. Elizabeth Church in Corry, Pennsylvania.
In Nov 1933, upon the death of Mgsr. Francis Bender (1870 - 1933), Father Reiser was appointed to be the second pastor of Sacred Heart Church. From 1950 to 1953 he oversaw the replacement of the original church with a larger stone church building, which still stands today. He also oversaw the expansion of Sacred Heart School, completed in 1960. In 1954 Father Reiser was elevated to the rank of Very Reverend Monsignor.
Monsignor Reiser served as pastor of Sacred Heart until his death on Apr 20, 1967. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his sister, Katherine Reiser (1882 - 1963).
Father Joseph J. Grode was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart shortly after Mgsr. Reiser's death.
