Bertha E. Davis, 100

Mrs. Bertha E. Davis, age 100, of 7204 Lake Street, Pulaski, died Tuesday, August 29 at the Pontiac Nursing Home, Oswego, where she was transferred from Oswego Hospital. She died from the result of a broken hip after a short illness.

She was born in Alberene, Virginia, November 9, 1883. She celebrated her 100th birthday last November.

She was married to the late Harry B. Davis, December 27, 1902. They made their home in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, later moving to Niagara Falls, Canada, where Mr. Davis was superintendent of the Ontario Power Company.

In 1914 they moved to Altmar, New York where her husband was engaged in the construction and later the operation of what was then known as the Salmon River Power Company. It is now owned by Niagara Mohawk.

She left Altmar after her husband died in 1937 and spent several years in her home state of Virginia. In recent years, she has made her home with her daughter, Doris Davis, in Pulaski.

Surviving are four daughters, Blanche Mileham, Aurora, NY; Bernice Prendergast, Elizabethton, Tenn.; Marjorie Gaines, Long Island; Doris Davis, Pulaski; one son, Henry Davis of Oswego; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday; August 31, at Pulaski Cemetery, the Rev. Lorrie Day, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Mexico, officiating. There were no calling hours.

Donations may be made to Northern Oswego County Ambulance or NOSHSI, Pulaski, N.Y.

Arrangements were by Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski.
