Obituary- God in his his all wise Providence saw fit to take from among us our friend and brother James S. Slemp born April 22 1874. He died at his home in rich hill Missouri on September ,9 1906 after a sickness of twenty nine days of typhoid fever. All that skilled physicians and trained nurses could do was done to comfort him and restore him to health but was of no avail. He was born in Atchison county and made his home here until the last 9 months of his life. He was a kind neighbor, and always ready to help when he was needed.he married Miss Annie Traub to this union 5 children were born all of whom are left with their mother to mourn their loss . He had many friends as was shown by the large concourse at the funeral. The services were held at Rock Creek Church, Rev. D.M. Philipp preaching the sermon. The remains were laid to rest at Bush Cemetery. May the Lord comfort the sorrowing widow and children.
