Funeral Held For Samuel R. Butler
CALISTOGA — Funeral services were held today for Samuel Reed Butler, prominent Calistoga native and a member of a pioneer Napa County family. He died Saturday in the St. Helena Sanitarium after a long illness. He was 72.
Mr. Butler, widely known in this area, was a ranch operator for most of his life, farming the Butler property two miles north of the city.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Butler, and by a son and daughter; Clarence Butler of Calistoga and Mrs. Martha Bemrod of Aetna, Calif.
He was the brother of Stella Ingalls, of Calistoga; Ella Teale, Watsonville; Edna Donner, Richmond and Jesse Butler, Santa Rosa.
Following the services today, cremation took place in the Chapel of Chimes, in Santa Rosa.
