Mojave resident Taken in death Here Sunday
James Hervey Willson, 50 of 15563 M Street, Mojave, passed away from a heart attack after he had complained of feeling ill earlier that same morning.
"Herv" was born January 25, 1910 in Ben Lomond, Arkansas, coming west as a young man. He had been a resident of Mojave since 1937 and was engaged in various businesses until 1950 when he purchased several lots embracing the northeast corner of M Street and Highway 466. There he built a service station, grocery store, and several rental units.
Only recently he had started to build a larger building to house his grocery store. His widow is very grateful for the donations which will help her complete the project started by Herv.
He was a veteran of World War II, a past commander of' Mojave VFW Post 3711 and a member of Mojave Elks Lodge No. 2059.
Survivors include his widow La Nada; daughters Marilee and Ellen; one son Patrick of Mojave; his mother Mary J. Carlson; one brother, Charles, both of Hi Vista; another brother, Louis J. of Fresno; and a sister, Mae Slack of Boron.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Congregational Church with Rev. Harold T. Hawkins officiating, assisted by Rev. James C. Thompson.
Interment will be in Mojave Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home, Mojave, in charge of arrangements.
