LeNada Willson

Former Mojave resident LeNada Willson, 82, of Ethridge, Tennessee, passed away August 28, at her home.
Widowed at 36 by the passing of her husband Hervey, she chose not to remarry and spent many years working two full-time jobs to graduate her three children from college debt free, purchase their first homes, and then help raise three grandchildren after retiring as a window clerk for the U.S. Post Office in Mojave
When she passed away she was living with her daughter Dr. Ellen Willson and Ellen's long time companion Jeff Becker,
She is survived by son Patrick and grandson Tyler Willson, eldest daughter Dr. Marilee Willson of Texas, Marilee's children "Little" Ellen and Will Dalton and his children.
Son-in-law Oren N. Dalton and niece Janna Minorchio, daughter of recently deceased Mojave native Jan Kelley-Williams also survive, along with nephew and niece Bryant and Sue Justis and their children and grandchildren in Camus, Washington.
Julie Honeycutt of Mojave, loved as a daughter by LeNada and life-long friend to Ellen, also survive along with LeNada'a dear friend since their young womanhood Gertha Ott, and her family.
Gold Rush Days sponsor
For more than two decades LeNada and Hervey were major sponsors of Mojave Gold Rush Days and in the 1960's she was the founding mother and major financial contributor in building the First Southern Baptist Church in Mojave where she'd landed as a sixteen year old bride and lived until retirement.
She was also known for her beautiful soprano voice and was also lead singer of the Sweet Adelines who performed in the tri-county area of San Bernardino, Kern and Los Angeles counties for various charitable and community events.
LeNada was a den mother and active participant in Boy and Girl Scouts. As a gifted seamstress once rebuilt and reupholstered every ruined seat of an old school bus her son's scout troop bought for an extended summer adventure to Alaska.
A memorial service was held for her Sept. 9 at the farm she shared with her daughter in Ethridge, Tennessee.
