BETTY J. LEAR, 74, of R.R. 1, Box 270, Mount Union, died at 9:46 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 1997, in the Altoona Hospital, following a serious illness.

Born December 20, 1922, in Hollidaysburg, she was a daughter of the late Royal and Madeline (Gray) Manspeaker. She was married to Robert G. Lear Sr. on February 16, 1942.

Surviving are her husband, at their home; four sons: Herbert W. Lear of Mount Union, Robert G. Lear Jr. and Barry S. Lear, both of Mount Union R.R. 1, and Howard James Lear, Mount Union R.R. 2; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Manspeaker and Dale Manspeaker.

Mrs. Lean was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to being a homemaker, she had been employed for 11 years at Robin Footwear Inc., in Mount Union.

Private funeral services will be held at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Thomas M. Veale officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg R. D. 1.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Memorial contributions, in remembrance of Betty J. Lear, may be given to Home Nursing Agency, P.O. Box 186, Mount Union, Pa. 17055.
