Military graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, Fla., for Herman Churchwell, 91, who died May 19, 2012, in Spring City, Tenn.
Mr. Churchwell was born September 30, 1920 in Leakesville to Gabe and Lou [Ball] Churchwell. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II. He married Lora Mae Flynt May 1, 1942 in Central Florida and eventually settled in Orlando after his retirement from the military. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Churchwell was a Freemason and was a member of Goss Methodist Church in Orlando, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora, his parents and siblings.
Survivors include his two children, Rocky Churchwell and Lora Kramer; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many other family and friends.

Herman graduated Leakesville High School, 1941; a class mate, cousin and close friend of George F. Churchwell, Jr. [B-24 Co-pilot]; his memories were significantly beneficial in constructing the biography of George, Jr.
