Mary Amanda Martin Haynes, 87, of 3525 Greenbush St. died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. She had been in ill health for three years.

Mrs. Haynes was a homemaker and in her early years worked as a seamstress with Vogue Cleaners and Crown Laundry.

Born in Lafayette on March 9, 1903, she was a 1921 graduate of Wea High School and had lived in Lafayette for 69 years. She married Charles Clinton Haynes on September 24, 1924, in Danville, Illinois. He died in 1953.

Mrs. Haynes was a charter member of Eagles Auxiliary and a 40 year euchre club member.

Surviving are two daughters, Lois Danaher and Mrs. Dale (Rosemary) Mikels, both of Lafayette; three sons, Robert Haynes and Larry Haynes both of Lafayette, and Richard Haynes of Fort Wayne; and two sisters, Lucille Beard and Florence Miller, both of Lafayette.

Friends may call at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 5-8 p.m. Friday. Service in Hippensteel Chapel, 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Ann Smith officiating. Interment Spring Vale Cemetery. Surviving are 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie VanOstren and a grandson.
