Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Glen Walton and Haun Kite officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.
Eddie was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Mangum, Okla., to Archie and Ellie Mattie Kell Barnes. She was the sixth of nine children. She grew up in Greer County near Mangum.
She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Louis L. Thornton, on Sept. 4, 1934. This union lasted until his death in 1991. Their life's work was ministering to Churches of Christ in Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, South Dakota, Stratford,
Silverton and Sunray. They retired to Amarillo in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis L. Thornton; a daughter, Lanelda Jo Thornton; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; her parents; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include a
daughter, Julaine and Bill Kennedy of Monument, Colo.; a son, Lynn and Sandra Thornton of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Southwest, 6600 Kilgore Drive, Amarillo, TX 79106.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
