He was born Oct. 6, 1956, in Scott City, to Cecil Golden and Agness Lorine Scott Barnett.
On April 4, 1981, he married Betty Elson in Oberlin. She died Nov. 30, 2004. He later married Nicole Schneider.
Mr. Barnett had been a feed truck driver for Glenn Coberly Feed Yard in Gove and later moved to Hays.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather Urban of Ellis, and Charley Maughlin of Dighton; four sons, Craig Wayne Barnett Jr. of Quinter, Cecil Barnett of Great Bend, Preston Barnett of Hays, and Hunter Barnett of Hutchinson; three brothers, Paul and Mac Barnett, both of Dighton, and Bill Barnett of Healy; two sisters, Hassel Conley of Bonaire, Ga., and Bonnie Donecker of Healy; and 13 grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Kenneth and Jerel; and a sister, Kathleen Doris.
Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Healy Cemetery.
