Edith "Marie" Birmingham, age 79 of Traskwood, formerly of Cord died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton. She was born May 15, 1932 at Harrisburg, Arkansas to Floyd and Edith Gray Sloas. She assisted in the opening of Fred's Fish House in both Cord and Batesville where she waitressed for 30 plus years. She was a longtime member of the Cord Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in the Church nursery; she loved the children and enjoyed telling them about Jesus. In later life she moved to Traskwood with her daughter and she became a member of Glen Rose Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bunt O. Birmingham, four brothers, Floyd Sloas, Dewey Sloas, Leon Sloas and Troy Sloas, a sister, Idella Cornwell and an infant sister.

Survivors include a son, Ricky Birmingham and wife Pam of Traskwood, four daughters, Sharon Anderson and husband Richard of Traskwood, Terri Bramlett and husband Donald of Batesville, Joyce Ward and husband Randy of Cord and Veta Goree of Alexander, eight grandchildren, Autum Ward of Cord, Chris Murphree and wife Jennifer of Benton, Jarrad Crafton of Batesville, Brynn Murphree of Traskwood, Richard Crafton of Pleasant Plains, Jacob Crafton of Batesville, Brandon Ward and Cameron Ward both of Cord, six great grandchildren, Erin Murphree of Benton, Andrew Ward of Cord, Love Scott of Traskwood, Britni Murphree of Benton, Lucas Ward of Cord and Trinity Crafton of Batesville, many nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will begin Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cord Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis McClintic and Bro. Jerry Kausler officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery located at Cord with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
