JOHN THOMAS MAUK WAS THE SON FREDERICK EDWARD AND LINNIE BELLE MAYO MAUK.

HE MARRIED MINNIE A MOWDY 25 JUN 1922 IN HAWKINS COUNTY, TENNESSEE. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: ADA LEE, LOYD G, JOHN THOMAS JR, JUNIEVE, JAME HENRY, MARY, CECIL GORDON AND RUTH.

JOHN THOMAS MAUK WAS THE SIBLING OF JAMES ROBERT, ANNIE, LILLIE AND HENRY GRANT MAUK.

SURGOINSVILLE – John Thomas Mauk, 70, of Route 1, Surgoinsville, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday at the Veteran's Hospital in Johnson City after a long illness.

He was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and owned and operated Mauk's Grocery at Stoney Point for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Mauk of Surgoinsville; four daughters, Mrs. Cecil Cooper and Mrs. James Ward, both of Surgoinsville, Mrs. William Couch of Baltimore and Mrs. A. C. Minor of Church Hill; four sons, Lloyd, Cecil and James, all of Surgoinsville, and John T. Jr. of Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Marion Kleeper of Surgoinsville ad Mrs. Ballard Davidson of Rogersville; two brothers, Grant and Jim, both of Surgoinsville; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Amis Chapel Methodist Church. Dr. John Yelton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Armstrong Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Wilson Funeral Home in Church Hill where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday.
