Loran Brewer was born the son of Philo Brewer near Cleveland, Ohio. As a young man he worked at a restaurant in NYC before he enlisted to fight in the Mexican War in 1844, serving three years in the Marine Corps. He marries Loise Main about 1850. They live in NY. Loise dies within 5 years. On July 27, 1855, Loran remarries Lucy Ann Wilcox in Preble, Courtland Co., NY. In Nov. 1856, they move from NY to Irving Twp., Jackson Co., WI. In 1861, Loran enlists as a first lieutenant in Co. G, 10th Wisconsin Infantry. His contraction of a chronic disease results in his resignation on Nov.8, 1862. In about 1867, the family moves to Black River Falls, where Loren Brewer later dies in 1889, at age 64.
