Bessie immigrated to the US in 1898, possibly with her dau Bertha and Dora, as her husband had immigrated in 1894. She is found in the 1900 census living in Elmira City, Chemung, NY with her husband, daughters Bertha, Dora, and Lillian, along with Lillian's husband Samuel Blostein and their dau Lena. The 1900 census stated that Bessie could not read nor write, nor speak English, but spoke Yiddish. In 1910 Bessie is listed as a widow and living with dau Dora and Bertha and Bertha's husband Harry Tatelbaum and their 3 children in Elmira; unable to find her in the 1920 census, but she is in the 1930 census in Elmira living with her dau Bertha and family. Census notes she has her own income, speaks Yiddish, and can read and write. They lived at 160 Sullivan St. Census dates/ages are incorrect, as headstone states she d. at age 89 in 1932; census dates would also have made her too young when she had children. (Her husband's census age/dates were also wrong.)
