Barbara Jean Baldwin was born on October 7, 1961, in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Paul and Dovie (Rawls) Baldwin. She settled in Tonkawa with her family in 1976. She attended Tonkawa High School and Northern Oklahoma College. Barbara overcame many health related problems to complete her education, which included a double major in Business Administration and Accounting. Barbara's ability to rise above her adversity during her time at NOC is proof of her strength of character She was a member of the President's Honor Roll.
On Dec. 2, 1983, Barbara married Michael Schatz in Tonkawa. They made their home in Tonkawa and were blessed with three children.
Barbara worked for Sykes and as a substitute teacher. She also owned and operated a home day care for several years, which she greatly enjoyed.
Barbara enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. As a mother, she was very supportive of her children and was involved in many of the school, church, and community events in Tonkawa. She never missed a game or activity in which her children were involved. Barbara was also a volunteer and a tutor.
Barbara is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
