Rachel Oline (Ostrem) Holt (Holte) was born Feb 8, 1885 in Clay county to parents Ole and Johanna (Alendahl) Ostrem.
She died on May 17, 1949 in her home in Centerville, SD.

Rachel married Thor Holte on March 29, 1907 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Alberg.

Rachel and Thor lived several places during their marriage. Their first son, William was born in 1908, with daughter, Gladys following in 1910. While they were farming near Montrose SD, son Joseph Oliver was born in 1912 but died approximately one hour after birth. Sons, Orville and Clarence Arthur were born near Montrose along with another daughter, Thelma. Twins, Verla and Verda were born in 1921.

Conditions were not favorable for farming near Montrose so Thor sold the farm in September of 1924 and moved his family to the Arneson farm near Wakonda SD. Here their youngest child, Eugene, was born in 1930.

In 1947, their son, Orville, took over farming operation so Thor and Rachel retired and moved into Centerville.

On May 17, 1949, Rachel passed away in her home in Centerville.

Besides her husband, survivors are her sons: William, Orville, Arthur, Eugene; four daughters; Gladys Bishop, Thelma Ward, Verla Knudson, and Verda Erickson.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her infant son; and three grandchildren.

Rachel is buried in Holland Cemetery near Centerville SD.
