Mr. Alton D. "Blackie" Soules, 87, of Lindale, passed away Dec. 5, 2011. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Swan-Woodsprings Methodist Church with the Rev. Marion Burgess officiating. Graveside services for both Blackie and his wife will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, in the China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Patteson officiating.

Blackie was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, to the late Mittie Eva Geeslin Soules and Benjamin Alfred Soules. He graduated from Waco Barber College. Blackie served four years in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Annamargaret Chapman in 1943. Blackie was a baker for the Veteran's Hospital in Waco and Ellington Air Force Base in Texas. After retiring from civil service, he joined Ann in the antique business. They maintained shops for 50 years in Waco, Dallas, Pasadena, Houston and finally, Lindale, Texas.

Blackie was preceded in death by his wife of 69½ years, Annamargaret Soules; and brothers, Charles Warren "C.W." Soules and Arthur Soules.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay Lynn Soules and husband, R. Hugh Soules, of Lindale; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
