Delia Ruby Opal farmer was the daughter of Louis Farmer (1881-1956) and Mary Elsie Leona Brewer. She was one of 7 children, the family was very poor, grew cotton and owned about 40 acres. Delia and her sisters made their own clothes, coats and hats, there were no 'store bought' items in their lives. Delia married first Robert Preston Woodside in 1925, had 4 children and then found herself a widow at age 26. Her children were placed in the Protestant Orphans Home, which she visited every weekend. Years later, she married Alfred Harold 'Pop' Winkler. He adopted her children. The youngest child, Carole, took the Winkler surname and was buried (2012) in the Winkler plot with her mother and POP.
